Howdy! I'm Wes Gill, the face behind Gourmet Gills LLC, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you.

Growing up on a small ranch in southern Idaho instilled in me a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. From the sprawling landscapes to the tiny creatures that call it home, I've been fascinated by life in all it forms for as long as I can remember and have a particular fondness for fungi.

It's been a long time dream of mine to move out to the coast where I can explore the rain forests and nurture my love for nature. I decided to take the plunge and follow my dreams. Coos Bay, Oregon, with its lush forests and diverse ecosystems, felt like the perfect place to embark on this new chapter of my life.

Here in Coos County and the surrounding areas, you'll often find me wandering through the woods, camera in hand, in search of the perfect mushroom shot. There's something truly magical about stumbling upon a hidden cluster of fungi, each one a work of art waiting to be captured through my lens.

I'm also an avid mushroom hunter. I love nothing more than exploring the forest floor, identifying different species, and marveling at the incredible diversity of shapes, colors, and textures. Finding something for dinner is just an added bonus and delight that always brightens up my day!

When I'm not out exploring the wilderness, you can often find me at home, hunched over my computer, eagerly submitting my mushroom identifications to iNaturalist. It's a small way for me to contribute to our collective understanding of nature and to connect with fellow enthusiasts from around the world. I've leaned so much with the help of the mythological community and want to do my part to give back by educating and spreading mushroom spores as far and wide as I can.

My love for mushrooms doesn't stop there – I'm also a regular at mushroom festivals and farmers' markets, where I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge and passion with others in the community. There's something special about the camaraderie that comes from bonding over a shared love of fresh, locally grown produce.

At Gourmet Gills LLC, I'm proud to bring together my passions for mushrooms, photography, and sustainable agriculture. It's more than just a business to me – it's a way to share the beauty and bounty of nature with my community and to inspire others to forge their own connections with the natural world.
